EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC STUDIO
Stephanie believes that all children have musical potential! Early childhood music classes promote musical exploration of all elements of music: rhythm, pitch, harmony, form, dynamics, and tone color. All children should experience exemplary musical sounds, activities, and materials. A child's early music experiences provides a foundation on which all other musical growth and can take. This program is an ideal way to prepare a child for later instrumental or vocal study, and to be a more perceptive listener or thinker in the arts, and well as in other disciplines.
During her Bachelors and Masters degree at BYU, Stephanie took early childhood education classes, and volunteered and taught at the BYU early childhood music academy for three years. She has attained national certifications with Music Teachers Association (MTNA), Level I Certification with the National Early Childhood Music and Movement (ECMA) Association, Level I Orff certification, and Musikgarten for children birth to 9 years.
BABY BABBLERS (Birth-16months)
Music education begins infancy and even before birth; therefore, the first educators are you--the parents! Come with your baby and explore music and movement to encourage the development of baby's brain, coordination, and social skills. You and your child will grow together as you participate in activities designed to increase your baby's curiosity about music. Our musical play will establish the foundation for musical growth and development as we:
Sing
Listen
Rock to lullabies
Bounce and wIggle
Play with instruments and scarves
Play with our bodies, fingers, and toes
Children imitate what they hear so babies can learn to sing as they learn to speak!
TODDLER EXPLORERS (1.5 years-3 years)
Children should experience exemplary musical sounds, activities, and materials. Capture your child's imagination with activities designed to bridge the natural connection between music, movement, and early learning. Children lean best when they are encourage to explore, create, and make decisions. Children will have opportunities for individual and group musical play. You and your child will both make friends as you:
Sing
Listen
Chant rhymes
Move and Dance
Play instruments
Create and improvise
Explore notation and symbols
Increase music vocabulary
Parents who provide music in their child's life are creating the most powerful route to the child's successful involvement in the art. These experiences live on in the mind of the child forever.
TUNEFUL TODDLERS (3-4 years)
Play is the primary vehicle for young children's growth. The years before children enter kindergarten are critical for their musical development. Young children need a rich musical environment in which to grow. All children are musical, but their musical aptitude will diminish if it is not nurtured. Your child will experience the important social and musical aspects of sharing music and making music together as we::
Sing
Listen
Chant rhymes
Move and Dance
Play instruments
Create and improvise
Explore notation and symbols
All children need to be engaged in purposeful movement to eventually control their ever changing and growing bodies. I embrace the idea that children learn best while moving, playing, and exploring!
LITTLE MUSIC MAKERS (4-5 years)
Classes will cover a variety of individual and group musical experiences. Specially designed to bridge the gap between musical play classes and piano or other instrumental study, the Music Maker series is a fun approach to musical literacy. Your child will build a musical foundation through:
Vocal development
Instrumental ensemble play
Ear training
Basic music notation
Singing games and movement
Basic piano skills
Music experiences in the very early years may influence the young child's sensitivity to beauty, sense of belonging, and self-worth. Activities are presented in a playful way, focusing on learning through process rather than performance.
